Pleasure Craft Dealer e-licensing

Pat Nelder attended a meeting held December 13, 2006 with recreational boating industry members from across Canada, with Service New Brunswick, Service Canada the current providers of vessel licenses and with Transport Canada, the government agency responsible for vessel licensing. The purpose of the meeting was to determine if Transport Canada can permit Service Canada to provide e-licensing for recreational boat dealers. Service New Brunswick proposed a system that would allow dealers to log onto the Vessel Licensing system and license boats.
Should Transport Canada be in agreement, then Service New Brunswick will build the system, and a pilot project for selected dealers across Canada will be in place by July 1 2007, with a completely functioning system available for all dealers by 2008.
