New Manager for the Office of Boating Safety

Victor Santos-Pedros, Director of Marine Safety at Transport Canada has announced the appointment of Mr. John Murray to the position of Manager, Office Boating Safety at the Marine Safety Directorate of Transport Canada. John is a Master Mariner with close to 20 years experience at sea. He started his career fishing commercially off the coast of Nova Scotia. A former member of the Royal Kennebecasis Yacht Club, John has spent many years sailing in the Saint John River and the Bay of Fundy. John has a Master's degree in educational management from the University of Aberdeen, and has taught boating safety at the New Brunswick Community College in St. Andrews. John comes to the Office of Boating Safety after spending the past 5 years working in the Safety Equipment group at Marine Safety. He is the Canadian Chair of the ISO technical committee for Ships and Marine Structures.
