The
Atlantic Marine Trades Association (AMTA) is the official voice of
the recreational boating industry in Canada's Maritime Provinces.
Incorporated under the Canada Corporations Act in 1987, AMTA is a
not-for-profit organization whose mission is to promote the sport of
recreational boating and support its members in their endeavours.
AMTA members
include manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, dealers and
brokers of yachts, boats, engines and accessories, as well as marina
operators, recreational marine service providers and other
boating-related organizations. AMTA is the owner of the Halifax
International Boat Show and a partner in Discover Boating, a
national initiative to attract more people to the recreational
boating lifestyle.

Membership
In The Atlantic Marine Trades Association
There are two categories of
membership:
Regular membership:
Any sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation or division
thereof that derives its principle source of revenue from the
retail sales, wholesale distribution, manufacture or assembly of
recreational marine products and/or the provision of
recreational marine services. Each regular member must vote by
one delegate only who must reside in one of the three Maritime
Provinces of Canada serving in the marine trade industry.
Associate membership:
Any organization, individual or institution whether public or
private, or any sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation of
division thereof irrespective of their relationship to the
marine trade industry wishing to support the general principles
of the corporation is eligible for non-voting membership.

The Association is the owner of the
Halifax International Boat Show, an event which takes place
every February at Exhibition Park in Halifax. The Association
has contracted Master Promotions Ltd. to produce the show.
In recent years this has been a
very successful event, drawing exhibitors from the Atlantic
Provinces and from as far away as Vancouver. It is the premier
boat show in the region. The Show presents a live and
interactive Seminar Series in the Prospect Room of Exhibition
Park with exciting and informative seminars on subjects of
interest to boaters and the general public held each day of the
boat show.
The 8th Annual Silent Auction of
Marine Equipment and Nautical Accessories with all proceeds
going to the IWK Telethon for Children
A boat show reception and awards
night for members and show exhibitors.
The Discover Boating Booth; a
place where non-boaters can find out about boating in a 'non
sales' atmosphere. |

The Discover Boating Marketing
Strategy has been formulated to attract a significant number of
non-boaters to boating and to contribute to expanding the
boating market in Canada for the benefit of all recreational
marine industry stakeholders

is a not-for-profit membership
organization that has been developing and updating the safety
standards for boat building and repair for 50 years. ABYC is
actively involved with the International Organization for
Standardization (ISO) and is a leader in education for the
marine industry, as well as certification programs for marine
technicians.
